Residents Support

Step 1 - Visit National Bushfire Recovery website at https://www.bushfirerecovery.gov.au/

Step 2 - Local support by the Adelaide Hills Business Centre.

Impacted residents access to computers, printers and the internet to process claims and other online services.

Just visit the centre between 10am to 5pm Monday to Friday and see Gordon Kay for assistance.

Replacing Lost Documents

Birth, Marriage or Change of Name - The SA government has established a rapid response service for those that have lost certificates during the recent bushfires. You will need a copy of the card issued to you from one of the Recovery Centres. The AHBC can assist you with photocopies.

Firearms licences and registration papers - Phone the SA Police Firearms Branch on 7322 3346 or email sapol.firearmsbranch@police.sa.gov.au.

JP Services & Statutory Declaration

Statutory Declaration - If you are asked to complete a Statutory Declaration or "Stat Dec" when making an insurance claim etc, either complete the handwritten document or edit the Word or Google Docs versions. Some organisations will also provide your with a Statutory Declaration form to completed. You will need to see a JP to witness you signing the Statutory Declaration. Some form of ID (License, Medicare card etc) will be required before the Oath can be taken.

Impacted Businesses - Workspace - Advice - Grants

Step 2 - Local support by the Adelaide Hills Business Centre.

If your business has been impacted and you are seeking some recovery assistance and advise, the Adelaide Hills Business Centre can assist you with:

    • Free membership for one year providing discounted rates on work spaces, meeting rooms and other services.
    • If you are an existing member, just contact Gordon Kay on 08 8389 7737 to register for fire recovery assistance.
    • Free business recovery advise session.
    • Grant finder to help you rebuild and minimise long term effects to local business trade and tourism. Read more...
    • $100 will also be assigned to your Credit Account to offset Coworking and meeting room fees.

To get started:-

      1. Become a member and select 'Business Impacted by Bushfire" during the application process.
      2. Within a couple of days you will be notified of your membership acceptance and how to access facilities and other services.

New $10,000 grants for small businesses

This new grant was announced on 11 March 2020. It is funded by the Australian Government.

It is for small businesses in selected fire-affected Local Government Areas, as determined by state governments.

Applications open the week commencing 16 March 2020.

To express interest for the small business grant in South Australia, register your details on the Business South Australia website.

BizRebuild Assistance

BizRebuild is a business-led initiative, developed by the Business Council of Australia, to provide practical and on the ground assistance to small and local businesses left devastated by the bushfires.

Community Groups

If you represent a local community group assisting in the bushfire recovery process you can access meeting rooms and the media recording studio located at the Adelaide Hills Business Centre for Free.

The meeting rooms are ideal for small community group discussions up to 20 people and the recording studio provides the ability to interview people impacted by the fires and other media releases.

To get started:-

    1. Become a member and select 'Fire Recovery Organisations "Not For Profit & Non Government" ' and required a "Key Fob" during the application process.
    2. Within a couple of days you will be notified of your membership acceptance and how to collect your Key Fob to access the centre 24/7
    3. All facility bookings (Meeting Room, Studio etc) are completed online including cancelling and rescheduling. Please enter "FIRE19" as the "NFP Code" to avoid any payment.

Deployed Recovery Organisations (Not For Profit)

If you represent an organisation deployed to assisting those displace or effected by the Adelaide Hills Bushfires, you can access many of the Adelaide Hills Business Centre (AHBC) services free during the recovery period. The AHBC is centrally located within the Adelaide Hills region providing easy access to all outreaching areas.

This includes:-

Your organisation must be a "Not For Profit" (Click here for details) and become a member of the AHBC (Free for 1 year).

To get started:-

    1. Become a member and select 'Fire Recovery Organisations "Not For Profit & Non Government" ' and required a "Key Fob" during the application process.
    2. Within a couple of days you will be notified of your membership acceptance and how to collect your Key Fob to access the centre 24/7
    3. Use the Cowork Space and other rooms if not booked for upwards of 20 hours a week. Please consider access by others during your stay. Local printing is provided for basic printing needs. Room availability is on display via the passage monitor or online.
    4. All facility bookings (Meeting Room, Studio etc) are completed online including cancelling and rescheduling. Please enter "FIRE19" as the "NFP Code" to avoid any payment.

General & Food Waste Drop-off Point

For residents whose kerbside bins have been lost or damaged, Council has delivered community waste skip bins for general household waste.

Adelaide Hills Council Area:

Woodside: northern end of Onkaparinga Valley Road at Lions Club Onkaparinga rest stop/information board.

Lobethal: Lobethal Oval, Onkaparinga Street

Gumeracha: adjacent to Op Shop at Torrens Valley Community Centre, Albert Street

This community list provides information to those in need of emergency assistance as well as those looking to lend a hand.

For people who have been directly affected by the bushfires, Personal Hardship Emergency grants of up to $700 per family are available from the State Government. To apply and for more information please visit one of the following relief centres:

    • Mount Barker High School, Wellington Road, Mt Barker
    • Turramurra Recreation Centre, 1000 Lower North East Road, Highbury

Disaster Relief Payments of $1000 per adult are also available from the Federal Government via Centrelink for those who have been directly affected by the bushfires. You can apply for the payments via phone on 180 22 66, online through My Gov or in person at any Centrelink Office. The various donation centres across the Hills have been inundated with generous donations of food, clothing, toiletries and bedding.

We are asking that if anyone still wishes to make a donation, to do so through the State Emergency Relief Fund – Funds Transfer, Credit Card or Cheque - up to $700. https://www.sa.gov.au/topics/emergencies-and-safety/recovery/donating

Food and toiletry hampers are available from the Christ the King Church Hall, 40 Hutchinson Street, Mt Barker.

The Woodside Lutheran Church will be open to drop off food, pre-made meals, cash to buy groceries and provide food vouchers. 24 December 9am-2pm and Boxing Day 9am-2pm


A Fire Relief Fundraising Event will be held at the Nairne Soldiers Memorial Hall on Tuesday 24 December from 9.00 am to 11.00 am
